Mr. Speaker, it’s an honour to rise. March 21 is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This significant day is observed around the world to focus attention on the harmful effects of racism and the need to promote racial harmony. March 21 was declared in honour of those who lost their lives in the Sharpeville, South Africa, massacre, where during a peaceful protest 69 antiapartheid protestors died and 180 were wounded.
